Cayla Petree a guard at Cisco JC has been invited to walk on at Tech this season. She turned down 5 scholarship offers to try to make the team.

"I just really think they're going to win a national championship and I want to be a part of that," said Petree, who grew up in Cisco and visited the Tech campus 10 days ago. "Every little West Texas girl wants to grow up and play at Tech."

Sounds like a kid with a good work ethic (she's an academic all american) and a dream...my kind of player.

I would never underestimate a smart girl with heart.

I've never seen Tennal or Petree play, but they both sound like they are the heart and soul this team was lacking last year. I like the fact that they both have something to prove and no doubt make the verterans of the team step it up a notch. Despite their size or their previous injuries, I'll take two kids with huge hearts and explosive offensive skills any day. I think we're in fine shape at the guard position.

She sounds like the type of player that will become a fan favorite, as well as a non-fan favorite. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif Hope she has success in living out her dream. I like those kinds of stories. http://hoopscoop.net/ubb/smile.gif

That's what I'm talkin' about!! Leadership and heart is what this LR team really needs to complete the puzzle. Now it's time to put the pieces together for the 2002-2003 season! Go Lady Raiders!
